Personal training at Young Savage Fitness is built on customized programming that evolves with you. Every training cycle is designed specifically for your body, your goals, and your experience level. We will work together on form, challenge you appropriately in intensity, and evaluate your progress from a holistic standpoint.
Body Neutrality:
I approach fitness from a Body Neutral philosophy. Your relationship with your body is yours to define, and our job is to support you in building strength on your terms. If that means that you would rather focus on what your body can do—the weight you can lift, the movements you can master, the strength you can build — rather than its appearance, I’m all for that! If you in fact would like to celebrate the physical changes in your body that come from exercise — or if that is the main reason why you are exercising — I am happy to support that in a sustainable, healthy way.
Sustainability and Education:
In your programming, you deserve to understand why you're doing what you're doing. That's why training sessions include education about movement patterns, programming principles, and how your body adapts to training. You're not just following instructions—you're learning to understand your body and build a sustainable fitness practice.
My training philosophy emphasizes building habits that last, finding movements you enjoy, and creating a practice that works with your real life—not against it.
Personal training is available in-person at our Manhattan facility, at your building gym, or virtually through online coaching. Train in the way that best fits your life and preferences.
Body-Neutral Strength Training
Our approach to strength training rejects the toxic narratives that dominate mainstream fitness. You won't hear talk about "burning off" meals, "earning" rest days, or achieving specific body shapes. Instead, personal training here focuses on what your body can do—the weight you can lift, the movements you can master, the strength you can build.
Body-neutral coaching means we celebrate progress without tying it to appearance. We track metrics that matter: increased weight on your lifts, improved movement patterns, better recovery, growing confidence. Your relationship with your body is yours to define, and our job is to support you in building strength on your terms.
This philosophy extends to every aspect of training. Exercise selection considers what feels good in your body. Programming accounts for your energy levels, life stress, and recovery needs. Rest is valued as much as work. Your lived experience guides every decision we make together.
Inclusive, Queer-Affirming Coaching
Navigating traditional cis-het gym spaces can be difficult. Luckily, the places where I train in person in New York City are LGBTQIA+ friendly with inclusive bathroom options and other LGBTQIA+ members. I always use gender neutral language in sessions.
I maintain your boundaries when it comes to physical touch to assist in movement work and conversation around the physical body. With me, it is important that your identity is respected and that your fitness goals are centered — the same way how I wish I was treated when I first started entering gym spaces.
